Boat Trip of the Firth of Forth including a visit to Inchcolm Island

Sit in the heated observation lounge or on the outside decks and listen to the guided commentary while you enjoy a drink from the bar.

You will sail out into the Firth of Forth and close to some of the smaller islands where you'll get a chance to see all sorts of boating activities.

During the tour you’ll find plenty of opportunities to see a wide variety of marine wildlife including many seabirds, seals and watch out for the occasional porpoise. Although sightings are rare; dolphins and killer whales (orcas) have been spotted quite recently in the Firth of Forth. You never know what you might see!

Included in this trip is a 1.5 hour landing on Inchcolm Island. During the First and Second World Wars, Inchcolm and many of the other islands in the Firth of Forth were fortified to defend against attacks on shipping. You can still find the remains of many pillboxes, lookouts, tunnels and concrete bunkers which are today defended by the island's seabird population!

The island's former Augustinian Abbey (Historic Scotland), is one of the best-preserved group of monastic buildings in Scotland. Inchcolm is sometimes referred to as the 'Iona of the East' because of its connection with the Christian Missionary Saint Columba.

The island is a haven for marine wildlife - there are opportunities to see a variety of seabirds and you can also find many seals basking on its shoreline rocks.

This is an experience not to be missed.

Cost €45.00 pp based on min 40 participants.

Full Day Delights of Scotland
Loch Lomond, The Trossachs and Stirling Castle

Spend a day touring in one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland: the Trossachs. Enjoy wonderful lochside scenery, a cruise on Loch Lomond, lunch in Aberfoyle and an unmissable visit to the imposing Stirling Castle, one of Scotland's most important castles for centuries.

Departing Edinburgh, heading west, we travel to Glasgow, formerly the industrial capital of the old British Empire and now a thriving, contemporary city which will be home to Scotland's Commonwealth Games in 2014. Look out for key landmarks such as the Cathedral, the University and the Fairfield Crane, as we pass.

We cross the Firth of Clyde and move on to the 'bonny, bonny banks' of Loch Lomond, where you can relax on a cruise of the Southern parts of the loch, and enjoy great views across the water. After lunch in Aberfoyle we make our way into The Trossachs, on the southern edge of the Highlands, often called 'Scotland in miniature' because of its stunning scenery; and more famous, perhaps, for being home to the outlaw, Rob Roy MacGregor.

Driving through the Trossachs, we leave the best until last as we make our final stop of the day at the imposing and impressive Stirling Castle, sitting high on volcanic rock, commanding wonderful views across the country. You will have time to visit the castle and hear of the exploits of key historical figures including William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, King James V and Mary, Queen of Scots. We then make our way back to Edinburgh.

Tour Highlights: Glasgow City Tour, Loch Lomond Cruise, Aberfoyle, The Trossachs, Stirling Castle.

The cost will be €105.00 pp
