EACTA ECHO 2014

Echo2014Leipzig
Dear Colleagues and Friends

It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to attend the upcoming EACTA Echo 2014 that will be held from 17-20th May 2014 in the Heart Centre Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany.

The EACTA Echo 2014 meeting is aimed at two groups of delegates - those who aspire to gain a comprehensive knowledge in elementary echocardiography and those who wish to learn about cutting-edge technological advancement and have clinical updates in echocardiography. The four-day meeting is targeted at cardiac anesthesiologists and surgeons, cardiologists, trainees, and clinical practitioners with a special interest in echocardiography. Within the meeting, there will be three courses: basic, advanced and certification.

On the Saturday and Sunday, the basic and advanced courses will run in parallel sessions. The basic course is structured for beginners who have little or no experience of echocardiography. For the basic course participants, there will be concentrated training in a wet-lab on a two to one ratio of delegates to pig hearts to facilitate a better understanding of anatomy of the heart. In contrast, the advanced course caters to experienced echocardiographers who wish to develop their clinical and scientific knowledge and learn about the latest developments in echocardiography. A DVD containing the lecture series as PowerPoint Presentations with echocardiography loops, from both the basic and advanced courses, will be made available to the participants at the end of the course.

Included in the meeting programme, will be four live transmissions of echocardiographic examinations, being undertaken in the operating room. This will allow delegates to have greater possibilities to exchange ideas and discuss critical tips and tricks that will enable them to develop their skills in echocardiography. Live cases will be available for viewing by participants in both the advanced and basic courses. These cases will be presented during breaks in the programme so as not to deny any of the participants from this exciting opportunity!

The basic and advanced courses will be followed on the Monday and Tuesday, by an intensive, two-day certification course. The certification course is aimed towards delegates who are preparing for the EACTA/EACVI examination and following this course, delegates will have the opportunity to sit the EACTA/EACVI certification exam.
