Ray organized the first EACTA meeting in Cambridge in 1986. In many ways he set the standards for the format of meetings: main focus on the members' scientific contributions. Ray was member of the Directory Board during the first critical years and contributed to the financial situation that enables EACTA today to use money for grants. He was warmly thanked by the President.
